New Gluten-Free Rice Krispies Confirmed by Kellogg's

After reading an unofficial report on Gluten-Free Appetite that Kellogg's will be releasing gluten-free Rice Krispies, I contacted Kellogg's for more information. Here is the email reply I received last night.

"Thank you for contacting us regarding our cereal products.

We are excited to tell you that we will have a Rice Krispies Gluten Free cereal launching late May 2011. Although we do not have a lot of information to share with you at this time, we encourage you to look for this product on your stores shelves in a few months.

We appreciate your interest in our company and products.

Sincerely,

This is something new? It's not Rice Krispies then?

Yay! Rice Krispie treats!! I often thought it would be easy to make them GF...just substitute the barley malt with something else.

Will this include Canada, too, or just in the US?

It should only be rice anyway not all the other stuff they think they have to blow into that cereal! I found a brown rice krispie cereal thats so good and will not give that one up!

Was there any mention of which countries they will be available in?

Looks like we will have to wait until May for more details. I don't know if it will be in Canada. According to Gluten-Free Appetite, this is a separate brown rice Rice Krispies, not the original one reformulated.

I like Nature's Path Crispy Brown Rice cereal, which can be used for Rice Krispies type treats. Erewhon also has a gf rice crisp cereal. However, I am assuming that the new Kellogg's one will be the cheapest option!
